Oculus, directed by Mike Flanagan, is a psychological-horror film that tells the story of two siblings revisiting their past to to prove that an antique mirror is responsible for the death of their parents. Kaylie (Karen Gillian) is convinced that a supernatural force within the mirror is responsible for the crimes her bother Tim (Brenton Thwaites) was convicted of.
There's something about Chef that stays with you long after the movie has ended. It's a fine movie, well made, well acted, etc., but when the credits roll we're left somewhat of an aftertaste, an unshakeable idea that the movie isn't wholly satisfying. There were charming moments for sure, and interesting scenes, although, in the end, Chef is not greater than the sum of its parts. Jon Favreau is a more than competent director so it left me scratching my head as to why the film didn't pack as much of a punch.
This past weekend at SXSW (in which we had a blast) Telltale Games and Gearbox were on hand to reveal the first details on their upcoming collaboration Tales From the Borderlands. At their panel they discussed the story of the game, why they felt the need to make it, and a few other things as well. Aside from an initial announcement, there hasn't been much info on the upcoming Telltale Games/Gearbox collaboration, Tales From the Borderlands. While there still isn't much info to go around, that will all be changing soon as the company has announced they'll be at this year's SXSW (in a couple weeks!) to dish out on the first details of the game.
