Valve announced that you’ll have another chance to get the new Steam Controller.
The Steam Controller announcement brought about a lot of excitement, but it was slightly hindered with the questionable price point of $100. That didn’t seem to be that big of a deal though as the controller sold out within 30 minutes of going live.
Concerns grew rapid as bots and scalpers seemed to have picked up a lot of the units, and some were listed on Ebay for extreme prices. Luckily Valve seems to be on top of things and announced a new shipment is on the way. This time things will be a little more strict.
Starting tomorrow, Valve will start taking reservations to order the new Steam Controller. This new reservation system is in advance of the shipment, so new orders won’t go out tomorrow. Instead you can reserve a spot in line, and Valve will “go in order” of acceptance to offer users the ability to buy the controller in the new shipment.
The new orders are expected to hit in late May.
The new restrictions include needing a Steam account that has made a purchase before April 27th, and remains in good standing. All users will be limited to 1 controller per purchase, and any account that purchased one previously won’t be able to reserve another one in this round. The users that receive the email to purchase their reserved unit will only have 72 hours to complete the purchase before their spot is released.
You can read the official terms and get ready for the line on the Valve official site.
