2K Games Unveils Mafia: The Old Country Information & Release Date in New Video

When it comes to the newest release in the Mafia game franchise, we’ve got a lot to look forward to now, thanks to a double-barreled burst of new videos from publisher 2K Games and developers Hangar 13. Both of these videos have been age-restricted by YouTube, though, so you’ll need to go to their site to actually watch them. Fear not, however, for links will be provided!

For those who want something fast and furious, we have the “Whatever it Takes” gameplay trailer. Here we get to see the knife-throwing, gun-slinging, horse-riding action that appears to make up much of the new game’s interactive pieces. Behind it all is a very cinematic monologue about respect and obedience that really ties in the whole “La Costa Nostra” feel.

For a more in-depth look at what the new game will have to offer, there’s also the “Breaking Omertà” Developer Insights video. This is a longer look at the gameplay trailer, including interview-like segments from the studio head, game director and other developers discussing their intentions and challenges when putting the game together.

If that’s not enough Mafia: The Old Country info for you, you can tune in to their YouTube channel to catch a VOD of the recent 1-hour developer panel from PAX East for even more information about this upcoming action shooter.

Finally, if you’re all set and ready to get on the next digital train to Sicily, you can already pre-order Mafia: The Old Country, or at the very least, look forward to its release date, which was also announced today: August 8, 2025! The game will be available on all the usual suspects: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

About Mafia: The Old Country:

Mafia: The Old Country is a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay,” said Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes. “That focus allows us to deliver a story that’s gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional. Embracing early 1900s era Sicily, this is a mafia origin story that follows our protagonist, Enzo Favara, as he takes the oath and works his way up Don Torrisi’s crime family.”
