GTA 6 Delayed Until 2026

GTA 6 will officially launch in 2026.

May 26, 2026, to be precise. Rockstar made the announcement about the delay on Friday, May 2, through a blogpost on their website.

“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game,” developers said in the blog post.

“With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”

There have been years of speculation about the launch, which will come more than a decade after its September 2013 launch when PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were considered Next Gen consoles. The game and its companion GTA Online, which launched in October 2013, have remained wildly successful in the 12 years since it launched.

We’ve had years of rumors and speculation, including that the game would launch in 2025.
