Dotemu’s Marvel based beat ’em up, Cosmic Invasion, released to great acclaim late last year, and though it’s largely considered a fantastic addition to the genre, the game’s roster of playable heroes always felt a little light, at least in relation to the hundreds of potential options from the pages of the Marvel comics. Thankfully, Dotemu and Tribute have recognized this drawback, if the announcement (and subsequent release) of their latest DLC is to be believed. Much like the game itself, the DLC is a simple and small affair, but introduces two of the most iconic characters in the entire entire Marvel Universe as its latest playable characters, all the same:
That’s right, the Ever Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing and the Ever Leadin’ Red-Eyed Cyclops have arrived, and much like every other character implemented so far, it looks like they’ve got the playstyles for these two down pat. Ben’s your usual nigh-impervious brawler, and Scott’s optic blasts can cover his allies from range and fill the entire screen with concussive force when he needs to.
We have been looking forward to what new characters Cosmic Invasion might bring, and if this is any indication, they recognize the fan favorites lacking from the base game. With additional characters and a new game mode coming in the next DLC update this fall, we could be looking at an entirely new reason to run through this fantastic game another couple times!
