Tighten Those Trucks, skate. Has Returned – Watch the Release Date Trailer

The story of the Skate series is one with many ups and downs, beginning its lifetime as an actual upstart competitor to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games that had thus far held a stranglehold on the genre, to having what is widely considered one of the best-controlling skating games of all time in its roster in Skate 2. After third entry, development seemed to stall and interest in the series had started to wane, but EA and Full Circle are here, fifteen years later, to revitalize this loved franchise with the latest introduction to the series, stylized much like the original game simply as skate. Check out the new trailer on YouTube or right here with us:

This new release looks to be acting as a bit of a reboot for the series, with a new, if familiar-sounding, fictional city setting known as San Vansterdam, and a whole new model of access – skate. promises to be a free-to-download, cross-platform, cross-progression open world skating experience. The “Flick-It System” of board control is also back and better than ever with support from the latest in video game technology, and there’s a whole host of new tricks to learn to go along with it!

While it shouldn’t go without mentioning the shift in visual style to a more cartoon-inspired look, the trailer also shows the kind of breadth of both on-board and off-board exploration that really made this series shine in the past. Plus, as a free to play game, there’s no downside to giving it a shot to win you over.

skate. will launch into Early Access on September 16, 2025 for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and the EA app, and as an added bonus, last-gen gamers will also be able to get in on the fun as it will be launching on Xbox One and the Playstation 4 as well!
