GTA6 might finally be within our grasp on Monday, if early leaks have anything to do with it.
Right now this is just a rumor because GTA6 explodes when any hint of anything happens, and then either Rockstar changes it, or it just ends up not being true at all. However unlike previous rumors that left everyone incredibly disappointed by “insiders,” this new leak appears to be coming from affiliates and internal emails instead.
A leaked email to their partner program, BestBuy appears to be stating that pre-orders for GTA6 will go live (finally) on Monday. The email suggests a “pre-order event” that goes from May 18 to May 21, with pre-orders going live Monday and the 21st apparently being some major event by Rockstar, possibly a new trailer. Ironically the 21st was also the new rumored date for the trailer release after leakers were wrong about the 12th.
Also worth mentioning is that Take Two’s earning call is the same week, shortly after this would end. Take Two is the parent company of Rockstar, so it would make sense to want to walk into the meeting with some record breaking numbers for their hottest title.
Again, none of this is confirmed, and like GTA has been doing to us for years, it could all end up being absolutely nothing yet again. We can say if the game does expect to finally release at the end of this year, then skipping the “Not E3” summer would be a huge mistake, so it does indeed to make sense to get the train rolling shortly before the June convention season begins. Then from there it will be a powerhouse advertising campaign that scares many games away from the Fall season release schedule.
Sony also has been rather quiet lately and is known to have an exclusive advertising agreement with GTA6 as well, so perhaps once all this kicks off we can get them rolling too?
