Harrison Ford Praises Indiana Jones Game, AI Not Needed

Harrison Ford is iconic for many movie roles, but probably his most iconic leading role is that of Indiana Jones. And with the actor potentially aging out of the role, he questions the need to have AI fill in the gap.

Talking to The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford explained that the newly released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle proves that his role can carry on without him. The game utilizes the voice acting talent of Troy Baker, which does a fantastic job and has been praised for his work portraying the character.

“You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul,” Ford said. “You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it.”

He may have a point considering the game has received great positive feedback and has been a hit for Xbox GamePass with over 1 million players checking it out. It has yet to release on PlayStation which is expected to see an additional big number of players later this year.

Meanwhile the last two installments in the cannon film series have been duds in Hollywood. The last Indiana Jones movie had Ford reprise his role for The Dial Of Destiny in 2023, which turned out to be a huge let down for audiences.

Ford isn’t the first, and surely isn’t the last, actor that has spoken up about the use of AI in projects. Several voice actors in the gaming world are rightfully upset of chatbots and other uses of AI replacing their positions as well.
