With Sony’s lack of PS5 exclusive titles, you would think they would be greenlighting a few more games, especially from a studio that has had multiple blockbusters.
Sony has been shamed for shutting down productions of games like Days Gone 2 and a few other titles, but you would think one studio had a little more leeway in terms of greenlighting major franchises. Insomniac has been carrying PS5 on their shoulders, developing nearly half of the PS5 console exclusives so far (not counting PS4 titles) and they had an idea to make a game that fans have absolutely been begging to get. Resistance 4.
Insomniac clearly hasn’t forgotten about the series, almost teasing us weekly with screenshots of iconic moments, and now Ted Price has suggested they tried to get us what we want. In an interview with Kinda Funny Gamecast, Ted Price suggests that the studio introduced the game to Sony and we simply told no.
“Yeah, I’ll share one,” Price said after a brief pause. “Resistance 4.”
“We did pitch that one and it was a wonderful concept, and, it just, in terms of timing and market opportunity, didn’t work out. But it was the result of a lot of Insomniac team members being passionate about extending the story further because I do believe that Resistance has set up a really cool alternate history base where anything can happen with the Chimera and where they go and what their origins are.”
Ted Price suggests that he loves the franchise, and it’s pretty clear why. The first game Insomniac ever developed was a similar science fiction shooter, inspired by Doom. So it must have been a dream come true. The original Fall of Man was a major launch title for the PS3.
Fans have obviously shown love for the series as well, constantly asking if the trilogy of games will ever leave the PS3 prison and be remastered for modern consoles. The only current way to play the trilogy of games is by either having a PS3, or utilizing streaming features on the premium PS Plus tier.
Would we play Resistance 4? Hell yes we would!
