So far Summer Games 2025 has revealed some amazing games for us to look forward to, and while titles like Silent Hill f and Resident Evil: requiem definitely have given me something to look forward to horror wise, it’s Owlcat’s upcoming sci-fi title that has my un-divided attention, and is right now, my best game of Summer Games Fest, after all, who doesn’t love a good story set in a universe that’s the baby of Mass Effect and Firefly.
Set in the universe established in books, and TV, The Expanse: Osiris reborn tells an original story focusing on a Pinkwater Security merc relaxing on Eros station, who gets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Check out the trailer below.
Owlcat games has promised a story driven RPG, with players taking the role of unlucky merc, to captain as they travel the solar system visiting familiar locales and possibly encountering a few familiar faces. Owlcat has hinted that fan favorites from the books and show will make an appearance but have not yet revealed who.
During these travels players will assemble a crew, with their own stories and motives, some may be looking for redemption, while others may have a darker path. Throughout the game these relationships may grow, or break depending on decisions made.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will feature exciting 3rd person tactical combat, allowing players to use cover, as well as issue real time commands to their squadmates, who command their own arsenal of class driven powers. Players will bring 2 crew members with them in the field, while their remaining crew members support from a far by disabling systems, or distracting enemies.
No release date has been announced, but pre-orders are officially live, fans can choose from the Founder pack, which includes the base game, an early adopter item and a role on the game’s discord server, the Deluxe pack, which includes all the Founder’s pack items, Miller’s OPA heavy armor, the spec ops OPA rifle, as well as a shout out in the credits, or, Miller’s pack, which includes all of the Founders, and Deluxe pack items, as well as Miller’s casual outfit. Miller’s pistol, a digital art book, hall of fame mention, and the digital original soundtrack. Owlcat games has also announced a collectors edition release of game, featuring all of the items mentioned in the digital game packs, along with a scale model replica of the player’s ship, physical artbook, and other pieces of The Expanse memorabilia.
