Wolverine’s Suit Healing Seems To Be Upsetting The Internet

The biggest complaint for Insomniac’s Wolverine is the fact his suit is healing rapidly alongside himself, but is it that big of a deal?

Shifting through rage baiting trolls, and people that generally hate literally everything on the internet, the one actual complaint I’ve been seeing online is the fact Wolverine appears to have some type of healing factor applied to his suit. Normally Wolverine can only heal himself, and his suit is most notably always torn and beat up between the panels in the comics. In fact the only notable time I can find where Wolverine was able to fully heal his suit alongside himself was the last notable game, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

But is it that big of a deal?

While it randomly draws you out of the whole experience seeing his suit go from war torn to pristine, it still takes damage the instant you get hit again. So no, not really, and if it’s the only issue we are seeing then I think Insomniac is on a strong road here.

Can they explain it though? Sure.

In the comics Reed Richards develops a thing called “Unstable Molecules” which prevents his suit from taking damage from Wolverine’s own claws. While it didn’t appear to stop incoming damage from elsewhere, it was still a comic book style explanation as to why his claws were not tearing through the suit itself.

The problem with using this excuse is that Wolverine in the game isn’t in the X-Men yet, he’s in Team-X which later reforms itself into the X-Men. Plus Reed Richards is a Fantastic Four character, and with all the confusing licensing with Marvel, Insomniac might need someone else to create it.

Wolverine also has several different suit designs by various other Marvel characters throughout his time fighting in the comics. One of the most notable is the Krakoan Adamantium Armor, this armor helped reboot his healing powers and protected him from adamantium poisoning in his bones. The outer shell of the suit actually protected him from slashing and power attacks as well.

Wolverine has had many different suits through the pages beyond that too which all granted him various healing, or damage blocking, abilities. The Ablation Armor, made in Superior Spider-Man by Dock Ock allowed him to withstand nuclear blasts, but it was also made because he wasn’t able to heal at the time at all. The Krakoan Diving Suit essentially made it so he could heal under water without drowning. And if you want to go off the deep end, he even had Symbiote Suits, which essentially gave him hyper healing abilities.

So while it might be rather strange to see Wolverine get a full body heal including his suit, it’s not only happened before in another video game, but it can easily be explained with a quick detail put in the game. Just give him a new suit and say it has the ability to do this for some random reason, considering writers have explained away every other way to kill him.
