A ‘Nimona’ Animated Movie is Coming to Netflix in 2023

Nimona

It seems we’re getting an adaptation of Nimona after all, and it’s coming to Netflix next year.

After years of false starts, it seems an adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel is finally getting made. Fans were heartbroken when Disney closed Blue Sky Studios, effectively killing an adaptation of the story that was close to completion, but now Annapurna and Netflix have stepped in to bring the story of Nimona to life.

This adaptation of Nimona is scheduled to arrive on Netflix in 2023 and will star Chloe Grace Moretz  as Nimona, while Riz Ahmed will play Ballister Boldheart. DNEG Animation is behind the animation. Roy Lee, Karen Ryan and Julie Zackary are producing, with Robert L. Baird, Megan Ellison, and Andrew Millstein exec producing.

Nimona is summarized as follows:

A Knight is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he’s sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone.

Are you excited to finally see the story of Nimona come to life?
