Bowser Attacks in First Trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie

As promised, this afternoon brings the first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, offering a glimpse at iconic characters and very pretty animation.

The first look at The Super Mario Bros. Movie has finally arrived and…well it sure looks a lot like what you’d expect from Super Mario!

The trailer itself only gives some basics on the overall story, but between a solid gag with the Penguins, a Mario voice that doesn’t sound terrible, and absolutely gorgeous looking animation, I’m very pleased with our first look at this film.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Illuminations’s Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to hit theaters on April 7, 2023.
