Sound the alarms and get yourself situated. The first look at the next film from Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Things, has arrived.

Stop whatever you’re doing and listen up, it’s time for new Yorgos Lanthimos goodness. Today brings our first look at Poor Things:

Frankly, I have no idea what’s going on here…and I don’t care. I love the visuals ans surrealistic elements we’re seeing. Not to mention after how great The Favourite was, Lanthimos could do just about anything on the screen and I’d still be there opening day.

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Poor Things is set to hit theaters on September 8, 2023.
