The first trailer for Edgar Wright’s The Running Man has arrived, showing off the insane action, over-the-top personality, and a whole lot of fun.
At last, this morning brings our first look at the next film from Edgar Wright (which is always a treat), a new adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same name: The Running Man. It looks like an absolute blast.
This is pretty much the same trailer I saw during CinemaCon earlier this year (one of my favorites from the whole show), and it still whips a lot of ass. Glen Powell going a little insane and over-the-top works incredibly well and pairs nicely with his already solid action-hero looks. Combine that with Edgar Wright’s signature style/humor and there’s a whole lot to love about this trailer.
In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.
The Running Man hits theaters on November 7, 2025.
