First Poster for the The Super Mario Bros. Movie Revealed, Trailer on Thursday

The first poster for the new Super Mario Bros. movie has been revealed, showcasing the animation style ahead of the trailer launch!

This morning, Nintendo and Illumination announced a special Nintendo Direct is coming Thursday to present the first trailer for the animated The Super Mario Bros. movie. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, however, they released the first poster for the film!

Even if you’re on the fence about the movie in general, it’s hard to deny the animation style isn’t pretty great. It’s sleek and modern while capturing the overall vibe of Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom. Plus there’s some fun Easter eggs in there with the pixelated antique store and such.

While we’ve known for a little the first trailer would be coming as part of NYCC stuff, there’s now an official time we can pin down. The trailer will be shown during a special Nintendo Direct presentation (no game stuff will be shown at all) at 1:05 p.m. PT on 10/6 (Thursday).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie stars Chris Pratt as Mario, with Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Jack Black as Bowser, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. The film is set to hit theaters on April 7, 2023.
