First Trailer for Clifford The Big Red Dog is Both Big and Red

This morning brings our first official trailer for Clifford the Big Red Dog, the latest attempt to adapt the classic children’s books to the big screen. It’s pretty adorable.

I can’t sit here and tell you that I’ve been looking forward to a Clifford the Big Red Dog movie, and yet, there’s an undeniable charm to this first trailer.

While I’m still not fully on board with the realistic look (some things work better as cartoons), this looks both adorable and fun. The humor is light, but works, and I know kids are gonna love this one.

When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!

Clifford the Big Red Dog hits theaters on September 17, 2021.
