Focus Features has released the first trailer for Polite Society, an upcoming martial arts/action comedy that looks like a lot of fun.

Polite Society wasn’t anywhere on my radar until today, but after this trailer, I’m very much looking forward to its release in April:

It just looks fun! I love martial arts, and taking the angle of a younger person in training and forcing them into this bigger situation is a fun way to present it. Combine that with a bit of teen-comedy flair and it’s a recipe for solid humor and action all around. Sign me up.

A merry mash up of sisterly affection, parental disappointment and bold action, POLITE SOCIETY follows martial artist-in-training Ria Khan who believes she must save her older sister Lena from her impending marriage. After enlisting the help of her friends, Ria attempts to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence and sisterhood.

Polite Society hits theaters on April 28, 2023.
