Florence Pugh in Talks to Join the Dune: Part 2 Cast

Denis Villeneuve looks to continue the trend of casting high-profile actors for the second Dune film, this time courting Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan!

With filming supposedly set to begin this Summer (hopefully with everything going on in the world right now), it looks like casting for Dune: Part 2 is getting active. While a bulk of the cast will be reprising their roles, there will be a number of new additions to fill in for characters we’ve yet to see.

One of them is Princess Irulan, the daughter of the Emperor who plays a crucial role in Paul’s journey (it’s an old book, but I won’t spoil it here for new fans). Today, THR reports that Florence Pugh (Black Widow, Midsommar) is in talks to take on the iconic role.

They caution that talks are as far as it’s going right now, as she’s waiting on a final script to look at, and will have to contend with a packed shooting schedule, along with trying to snag the Madonna biopic. Even so, it’s a damn solid pic for Irulan and I’m crossing my fingers it happens.

Now, let’s just hope they bring in some MENA/SWANA actors to flesh out the Fremen roles this time around…

Dune: Part 2 is set to hit theaters on October 20, 2023.
