Though the details are scarce, Sony has confirmed that Venom 3 and a sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife are in the works.
Sony closed out their CinemaCon 2022 presentation last night with some rapid-fire announcements that didn’t come with many details (well, none), but are nonetheless exciting for movie-lovers. On top of getting news about the Spider-Verse films, the surprise reveal of El Muerto, we also got brief updates on other sequels.
During their closing sizzle reel, introduced by studio Chief Tom Rothman, Venom 3 and a new Ghostbusters sequel were teased. So yeah, not much to go on here, but the new Ghostbusters film will serve as a follow-up to Afterlife, which launched last year (and was a hoot).
Neither should really come as a surprise, but it’s nice to know they have the green light. Hopefully we’ll learn more about both of them sooner rather than later.
