It’s Monster Mayhem in the First Trailer for ‘Hope’

Na Hong-Jin latest film, Hope, brings creature feature terror to a small town. Check out the incredibly thrilling first trailer now.

I’m always down for a good creature feature. This morning, the first trailer for Hope arrived and instantly shot this film I hadn’t heard of before up my must-watch list.

There’s a lot of interesting things going on here. I like how you have the elements of a typical monster movie, but as things progress it becomes clear there’s something more going on. That mystery, combined with some of the destruction on display, has me the most intrigued about this film. Feels like a lot of solid potential in this new Korean flick.

In the remote South Korean village of Hope Harbor, police outpost chief Bum-seok (Hwang Jung-min) and officer Sung-ae (Hoyeon) are called to find a mysterious creature that has wreaked havoc on the village. In the nearby forest, a coterie of local hunters, including Sung-ki (Zo In-sung) set out to track the beast and find themselves hunted instead. But all is not as it seems, and perceptions can be misleading. What begins as ignorance plants the seed of disaster, escalating through human conflict into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.

Hope is set to hit theaters on September 9, 2026.
