A24 has released the first trailer for Alex Garland’s newest film, Men. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on, but I’m all aboard.
After Annihilation and Ex Machina, I’m pretty much on board for anything Alex Garland is doing (even it looks like it’ll scare the poo out of me). Combine that with Jessie Buckley and I’m pretty much all in.
While this first teaser for Men doesn’t give us much information, it sets up a distinct, and chilling, tone.
In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper (Jessie Buckley) retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to have found a place to heal. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in visionary filmmaker Alex Garland’s (Ex Machina, Annihilation) feverish, shape-shifting new horror film.
Men is slated to hit theaters on May 20, 2022.
