Kathleen Kennedy Stepping Down, Dave Filoni to Take Over as Lucasfilms Leader

Since 1981, Kathleen Kennedy has been actively involved in filmmaking. She co-founded the renowned production company Amblin Entertainment alongside acclaimed director Steven Spielberg and her future husband, Frank Marshall, marking the beginning of a successful career in the industry.

In 2012, Disney Appointed her President of Lucasfilms and since then she has had a very large part in the creation of what the Star Wars universe. As if this week, Kennedy will be stepping down as President of Lucasfilms and Dave Filoni will be taking over her position.

Reported and sourced via Hollywood Reporter, David Filoni will take over “creative direction of the company as president and chief creative officer, Lucasfilm. President & GM of Lucasfilm business Lynwen Brennan will handle the business side of things as co-president, Lucasfilm. Splitting creative and the business duties is a common Disney strategy.”

With this news out and about, Kennedy will still over see the new two film by LucasFilms; The Mandalorian and Grogu and Star Wars: Starfighter. Some may rejoice about this and some may cry, but what I can say is this…thank you Kathleen Kennedy, thank you for all the years you poured into this wonderful universe and thank you for making a galaxy far away…become so close to our hearts.
