This morning, Disney/Pixar revealed the first teaser, and poster, for Lightyear, offering a glimpse at the real hero behind the toy.
The very concept of this movie’s existence still kind of blows my mind. This isn’t a standalone story of the Toy Story character, but rather a movie about the character who was the basis for the toy itself.
My guess is that means Lightyear will be something of a movie that exists within the Toy Story universe. Either way, here’s your first look!
While we don’t really get to hear any of Chris Evans’ voice for the character, or much in terms of story, there’s no denying this film looks insanely gorgeous. The animation is crazy, I mean, just look at the detail on these ships. It looks good and the film seems like it could be a lot of fun.
The sci-fi action-adventure presents the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear—the hero who inspired the toy—introducing the legendary Space Ranger who would win generations of fans.
Lightyear will hit theaters on June 17, 2022.
