Love Doesn’t Die in the Bloody First Trailer for The Crow (2024)

Eric Draven returns for revenge in the first (bloody/violent) trailer for the long-gestating The Crow remake/reboot.

After years (decades) of trying to get a new Crow movie off the ground, today brings our first look at the upcoming re-imagining of the iconic story.

The Crow was always going to be a tough sell to people. The original film (which turns 30 this year) remains iconic, and since it marks the tragic death of Brandon Lee, has almost impossible expectations to live up to.

It’s tough to shake the specter of the original, but after watching this trailer a few times this morning…I’m intrigued. While it may not be a good “remake” of The Crow, it looks like a pretty decent adaptation of the comic on which it’s based. It nails the grim tone and looks to have some fun action pieces to go with the darker supernatural elements.

As first looks go, it’s a pretty solid trailer and I’m left interested in seeing more.

Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

The Crow (2024) hits theaters on June 7, 2024.
