Mamoru Hosoda’s Newest Film ‘Scarlet’ to Arrive in Theaters this December

A new animated film is on the way from Mamoru Hosoda, the director of Belle.

The first official look at Mamoru Hosoda’s next animated film Scarlet was revealed today. All that is known so far of the story is that it centers on a brave princess who transcends time and space. The film is set to be released in theaters on December 12, 2025.

This is the first film from Hosoda since Belle was released at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021. His previous works include: Digimon: The Movie (2000), One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island (2005), The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006), Summer Wars (2009), Wolf Children (2012), The Boy and the Beast (2015), and Mirai (2018).
