New Graphic Novel Brings the Original Highlander Story to Life

Highlander fans have much to look forward to, including a newly announced graphic novel that adapts the screenplay for the original film which dives deeper into the story.

The wait for the new Highlander movie continues (but at least is moving forward now), but this year brings something for long time fans to enjoy. Today, Titan Comics announced Highlander: The Original Screenplay. As the name indicates, it’s an adaptation of the classic film we know and love, but taken directly from the original story/screenplay. That means we get a bit more than what we see in the film, along with some gorgeous looking artwork:

This lavishly illustrated volume (art by Szymon Kudranski) presents the immortal saga of Connor MacLeod as it was first imagined – long before it became a cult-defining cinematic classic. Spanning centuries of history, epic duels, and shadowed rivalries, Highlander: The Original Screenplay follows Connor’s journey across eras as he faces other immortals in a deadly contest for a mysterious and ultimate prize.

Returning to the story’s roots, the graphic novel offers fans a rare chance to experience Widen’s original narrative vision in full, capturing the mythic scale, tragic romance, and operatic violence that made Highlander a cultural touchstone.

“I have been a fan of Highlander since what feels like the dawn of time, so it’s a genuine thrill to bring this story back as originally envisaged by the man who created it all, Gregory Widen,” said Jonathan Wilkins, the editor of Highlander: The Original Screenplay. “For the first time, readers will be able to experience this epic adventure set across the centuries. It’s been a genuine thrill to work with Gregory to discover the various avenues his story explored before filming began. So get ready to visit the blood-stained highlands of the mid-1500s and the seamy streets of New York of the early 1980s for a spectacular take on an immortal tale!”

Highlander: The Original Screenplay hits bookstores and comic shops on November 17, 2026 with pre-orders already live!
