New Sequel for I Know What You Did Last Summer in the Works, Original Stars in Talks to Reprise Roles

It looks like a revival of I Know What You Did Last Summer is in the works with some original stars possibly returning.

It looks like Hollywood is taking a stab (pun fully intended) at another 90s slasher franchise, as Deadline is reporting that a new sequel to the 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer is in the works. Not only that, but Freddie Prinz Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are reportedly in talks to reprise their roles from the original film.

As the plot details of this sequel are unknown, it’s not clear if this sequel would take into account any of I Know What You Did Last Summer’s earlier sequels (released in 1998 and 2006) or if it would be a direct continuation from the original film.

There’s no confirmed date for when this sequel would enter production, and it’s currently not locked in that Hewitt and Prinze Jr. are returning. But if they are in fact coming back, this has the potential to be a great relaunch of a slasher franchise similar to how Scream has been revived.

What do you think of a new sequel being in the works for I Know What You Did Last Summer?
