Nicholas Cage Cast as Count Dracula in Universal’s Renfield

Nicolas Cage is coming back for more big movie studio action in possibly the best way possible: as Dracula.

Universal has been doing much better in bringing back their classic monster franchises, and is looking to continue the trend with Renfield. The film, directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War), stars Nicholas Hoult as the titular character who first appeared in Bram Stoker’s original novel.

Now, another major member of the cast has been filled. According to THR Nicolas Cage will play the iconic Count Dracula. The man has largely stuck to the indie film scene for a while now, so it’s nice to see him jumping back into a mainstream flick, especially for this kind of role.

All I know is that I’m about 100% more interested in this film than I had been before. No word yet on when we might see the film, but with casting chugging along and several pieces set, I imagine filming will begin at some point early next year.
