Nikyatu Jusu to Direct Sequel to George A. Romero’s ‘Night of the Living Dead’

In huge news for horror films, it’s been revealed that a sequel to Romero’s Night of the Living Dead is in the works.

An exclusive report from Deadline has revealed that a modern sequel to George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead is in the works. As many well know, this was the film that pioneered the modern zombie film as we know it and it is considered a cornerstone of the genre to this day.

While Romero made several sequels to this film back in the day, it now appears that Hollywood is hoping to bring the franchise to life with a fresh follow-up to the original story. Nikyatu Jusu is set to direct the film, while the script is being written by LaToya Morgan.

The plot of the film is being kept tightly under wraps, but it is known that Christine Romero, the director’s former wife, will be overseeing the project. There’s no word on when production will start, but the thought of seeing a fresh take on George A. Romero’s zombies is an exciting one.

What do you think of Nikyatu Jusu directing a sequel to Night of the Living Dead?
