Though audiences watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were already treated to the Avatar: The Way of Water trailer, now it’s here for everyone to enjoy!

After years upon years of delays, the first actual footage for the Avatar sequel, The Way of Water, has finally arrived. As expected, it’s GORGEOUS:

I know it’s become fairly popular to hate on Avatar, despite it retaining the crown for highest grossing film for so long, but I still love it unabashedly. I’ve been looking forward to this sequel for a long time. While the trailer doesn’t give us much in terms of the new story, I love the look of it and am impressed at the emotions I feel coming back to the world of Pandora.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet.

Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters on December 16, 2022.
