Legendary Entertainment has officially snagged the rights to the massively popular Street Fighter franchise, giving the company exclusive rights to make live-action movies and television shows.

In addition to the acquisition news, the company said all projects, including feature films, will be co-developed and produced with Capcom. No other details on future Street Fighter projects have been revealed, but the companies will have plenty to mine inspiration from since the franchise first launched in 1987.

Street Fighter 6 is barreling towards release on June 2 on PC along with PlayStation and Xbox consoles, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a hint at the first of, likely, many Street Fighter live-action projects to come.

Legendary Entertainment‘s resume of cinema includes a number of classics and adaptations that include Dune, Detective Pikachu, Godzilla vs. King, 300, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, Watchmen, Warcraft, The Hangover, Sucker  Punch; and TV that includes the Expanse, Carnival Row. Legendary Television and Digital Media is also producing a Tomb Raider anime series picking up after the events of the trilogy reboot, Dune:  The Sisterhood that focuses on the Bene Gesserit, and the Monsterverse Series on Apple TV+ featuring Godzilla, the Titans and the secret organization known as Monarch.

Cammy, Zangief, and Lily Will Also Be Added to Street Fighter 6
