Just in time for Halloween, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media have given us our first look at the latest in the perennial slasher classic franchise, Scream 7! This entry into the series sees the focus return to series originals. Per the official synopsis, Neve Campbell returns as the original Scream queen, Sidney Prescott, whose “darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target.” What Sidney does next is better seen than read:
This film has gone through more than its share of troubles, having already lost its directors once even before firing its lead actor, Melissa Barrera, for describing the attacks on Gaza as a genocide and losing the megastar Jenna Ortega and another director in the wake of the controversy. Spyglass Media, who alleged that Barrera’s comments were constituted “hate speech,” has since tapped Kevin Williamson, producer and writer for the original Scream, to direct and co-write this installment.
The announcement and trailer also came with a great new poster that hearkens back to the legacy of the series as a whole.
The poster, along with the trailer and handful of new images, weave a web of danger and intrigue that we’ll unfortunately have to wait until February to see play out, as Scream 7 is set to release on February 27, 2026.
