‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Given Green-Light by Sega and Paramount and More

With Sonic the Hedgehog 2 months away from arriving in theaters, it’s been confirmed that the adventures of everyone’s favorite hedgehog will continue as a third film has been confirmed.

The film adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog are set to continue well past the upcoming second feature film, as Sega and Paramount have not only given the go-ahead to a third Sonic film, but they’ve also confirmed a live-action Sonic series is in production for a 2023 release. Furthermore, this series will star Idris Elba as Knuckles, currently set to make his proper onscreen debut in the upcoming sequel.

“We are delighted to announce that the third Sonic theatrical film and the first live action Sonic series for Paramount+ are being actively developed. We’ve got a remarkable partnership with Paramount, and we are excited to continue expanding the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with them…” said Haruki Satomi, CEO of Sega Corporation.

While the live-action Sonic series is scheduled to arrive on Paramount+ sometime in 2023, there’s no release window as yet for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to arrive in theaters on April 8, 2022.
