Spider-Man: Brand New Day – Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland to Team Up in New Movie

Major Marvel news was made today when it was announced that Jon Bernthal would be joining the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, reprising his role as “the Punisher” Frank Castle and continuing the trend of having the Daredevil cast turn up in the Spider-Man film series.

Plot details surrounding the movie are scarce, and the source of many rumors throughout the internet. What is known is that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are reprising their roles as MJ and Ned, and that Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink will have a role in the film as well. Considering the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the knowledge of Peter’s existence was magically erased from the world, it’s unsure just what sort of role Zendaya and Batalon will be playing, and we have yet to hear any hard confirmation of who, exactly, Sink will play either.

Jon Bernthal has been playing the Punisher since season two of Marvel’s Daredevil series on Netflix, since becoming a featured part of the cast as well as headlining his own two-season series, Punisher. This isn’t Bernthal’s first foray into Disney’s MCU, either, with Frank Castle returning for the recent Daredevil: Born Again series on Disney+.  Lately, Bernthal can also be seen with Ben Afflect in Netflix’s The Accountant 2 and the 20th Century Fox film The Amateur.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day shoots in England this summer, and is scheduled to release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
