Trailer Released for Makoto Shinkai’s New Movie ‘Suzume no Tojimari’

The trailer for Makoto Shinkai’s first new movie in three years has arrived and it looks absolutely gorgeous!

Suzume no Tojimari is the first film from Makoto Shinkai, who also directed your name and Weathering With You, in three years and it looks stunning. Shinkai is directing the film and writing the screenplay while Masayoshi Tanaka is designing the characters. The film is scheduled for a November 11th release in Japan.

You can check the official trailer out below:

Suzume no Tojimari, literally ‘Suzume’s Door-Locking’ is described in the following synopsis:

On the other side of the door, was time in its entirety—
17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob…

Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.

Given how popular your name and Weathering With You are and continue to be, I have no doubt that Suzume no Tojimari will be equally incredible. There’s no US release date for this film as yet but hopefully details on that will be revealed later this year.
