Abby Officially Cast for The Last of Us Season 2

The showrunners have found their Abby for the second season of The Last of Us on HBO in Kaitlyn Dever, who I hope is never online to read comments.

Warner Bros/HBO works to get The Last of Us season two underway, some major casting has officially been revealed. Kaitlyn Dever, who recently starred in Hulu’s No One Will Save You, has been cast in the role of Abby. The confirmation comes after a few weeks of rumors/speculation.

For those of you who haven’t played the second game in the series, I won’t spoil Abby’s role in the story here, but instead drop the character description they’ve gone with:

Abby is a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved.

Suffice it to say, it’s a major part similar in scope to even Ellie’s role in the story. Considering the level of hate/rage that was lobbied at the character when the game launched, I’m sincerely hoping that Dever doesn’t spend much time online…

Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann also released a joint statement upon the announcement:

Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material. Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro [Pascal], Bella and the rest of our family.

Season two for The Last of Us is supposed to start filming this Spring with a release set for 2025.
