Star Wars: The Bad Batch Gets a Final Season in 2024

Announced this morning at Star Wars Celebration, The Bad Batch is returning for a third, and final, season next year.

Considering how The Bad Batch season two finale ended on a big ‘ol cliffhanger, fans have been anxious to hear word about a third season of the Star Wars animated series. Thankfully, during the Bad Batch specific panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe, Lucasfilm confirmed Clone Force 99 will be back for one final set of adventures.

The Bad Batch follows the heroic Clone Force 99 — also known as the Bad Batch, a group of elite clones — in the aftermath of Order 66 and the rise of the Empire. The end of Season 2 saw the death of team member Tech and the capture of Omega — along with the revelation that she has a sister.

2024 will bring a third season of the show to Disney+, which will also serve as its final season. Even better, fans in attendance were treated to a quick teaser of the upcoming season. Sadly, the rest of the world hasn’t been blessed with it, but it prominently featured Ian McDiarmid’s Emperor Palpatine talking with the villainous Dr. Hemlock about their work at Mount Tantiss, as well as a determined Hunter eager to rescue Omega.

The Bad Batch has always been a pleasant surprise for me. Upon its initial announcement, I wasn’t all that woohoo about it, but it’s managed to become my favorite animated Star Wars show around. Between impressive animation, fun stories, and a lot of heart, I’m sad to see this one come to an end, though excited to find out how they’ll wrap it up.
