The Last of Us Season 2 Trailer Teases More Infected and New Enemies

During a panel at this year’s SXSW, HBO revealed a brand new trailer for The Last of Us season 2, packed with tons of new footage.

With a little over a month to go before the second season’s premiere, fans got a fresh look at the return of The Last of Us this weekend thanks to a new trailer that debuted at SXSW. It’s pretty damn great.

There’s a lot going on here, revealing some of the terrifying new (human) threats, along with what seems to be much more zombie/infected action. I know one of the, very few, complaints about the first season was how the infected didn’t feel like enough of a threat (especially when compared with the game), and it feels like the showrunners have amped up that side of things a bit as well.

Either way, I’m excited…and scared. As someone who’s played the second game, it’s both neat and terrifying to see some of these scenes recreated and prepare for the pain to come. If the first season is anything to go by, we’re definitely in for something special next month.

Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.

The Last of Us season 2 premieres on HBO/Max on April 13, 2025.
