Dead Island 2 is hitting us with another release date change, but in the other direction than we’re used to. The long-awaited sequel has officially gone gold and we’re getting it a week early!

“See you in HELL-A on April 21, 2023,” the official social media for Dead Island 2 said on Monday, February 13. The game was delayed in November from its previously announced February release to April in an effort to “launch a game we’re proud to launch.”

Developers said in a press release that more gameplay and trailers is on the way as we zombie-crawl our way to launch.

“A deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies. The city is in quarantine and the military have retreated. Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, you learn to harness the tainted powers running through your veins. Only you, and the handful of other swaggering assholes who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, hold the future of Los Angeles (and humanity), in the balance. You were born to this.

As you uncover the truth behind the outbreak you’ll uncover the truth of who – or what – you are. Survive, evolve, save the world – just another day in LA!”

The game will feature six playable characters with a brand new skill system, dozens of iconic infected and their own mutations, and a co-op campaign with up to three players.

Dead Island 2 is launching on PC along with PlayStation and Xbox consoles on April 21, 2023.
