Dead Island 2 Delayed Again, New Showcase Announced

It feels like I’ve been writing this headline for years….probably because I have been, Dead Island 2 is delayed yet again.

On the official Twitter page of Dead Island 2, Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios announced that Dead Island 2 was delayed via the image above. The delay is for 12 weeks, which means the game is moved from February to April release. The developer does note that the game is already “in the final stretch” so we shouldn’t worry about the game not releasing at this point. Read the full statement below.

The announcement also pointed to a new Dead Island showcase scheduled for December 6th, which is 3 days before the GOTY Awards. The showcase will have a new trailer and gameplay and be shown on the official Twitch and Youtube channels.

Even though it is a short delay, and we are promised this is the final stretch, its hard not to feel that blow to the gut when reading this announcement. We’ve waited so long already….

We have some important news to share, so let’s rip that band aid off straight away. We are delaying Dead Island 2—the new release date will be April 28, 2023.

The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are. The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now; we’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch. For those of you who’ve been waiting for years, thank you for hanging in there with us.

In the meantime, we will be releasing an exciting new trailer and gameplay at The Dead Island 2 Showcase, which will premiere on December 6 on our Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as on the Dead Island website.
