Bloober has shown us some of the tech used for the upcoming Layers Of Fear.

Layers Of Fear is releasing in June, but Bloober has been showing off the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 for some time now. The horror game will be one of the first titles fulling running on the new engine and my goodness does it look insane!

The tech showcase shows how the team is utilizing several different lighting techniques to make an absolutely scary feeling in the game.

Layers of Fear (2023) supports Ray Tracing, HDR and 4K resolution, increasing visual accuracy, realism, the quality of in-game reflections and overall graphical fidelity. As well, the game utilizes Lumen global illumination to achieve superbly dynamic lighting, Niagara visual effects to create particle effects in real time and Action System Controls to improve the development process and optimization of all gameplay mechanics.

The game releases this June and includes both the first two titles, the DLC expansions, a new DLC expansion, and the first story of The Writer which will tie all the games together. New gameplay mechanics have also been introduced including a new lantern which will utilized the new engines lighting mechanics. The games soundtrack has also been revamped with Arek Reikowski, the composer of The Medium, adding some original scores to the game.

It’s also worth noting this is the first horror experience from Bloober using Unreal Engine 5 so we will get a small taste of what the potential Silent Hill 2 remake will look and feel like also.
