Martha Is Dead Getting Movie Adaptation

The horror game is heading to the big screen, and I couldn’t be more excited!

Martha Is Dead has gone on to be one of my favorite games ever, not just in the horror genre, but overall. It has a thrilling story to tell within the World War environment, and had you thinking about the characters long after it was over.

All this would make for a great movie, and they agree! LKA, the Italian game dev, Wired Productions, and Swedish movie studio Extraordinaires have partnered to adapt the game into a feature film.

Set in the picturesque yet war-ravaged landscape of Tuscany in 1944, “Martha Is Dead” weaves a haunting narrative against the backdrop of World War II. Player’s step into the shoes of Giulia, a young woman ensnared in a chilling mystery following the death of her twin sister, Martha.

One of the interesting aspects from my review of the game was the immense attention to detail for more minor things. Things such as how to develop film, or how Nazi treasures were hidden, all of it added a level of realism to make it all the more spooky. Hopefully the film can capture this same details.

The adaptation will be spearheaded by Studios Extraordinaires, a creative powerhouse by André Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson that specializes in crafting high-end action, horror, and science-fiction films from original stories and extraordinary games.
“’Martha Is Dead’ is a narrative masterpiece, expertly weaving a spellbinding murder mystery from a young woman’s perspective in a way that’s never been done before,” says André and Andreas at Studios Extraordinaires. “We’re eager to bring this haunting tale to life, offering both fans and newcomers a cinematic tour-de-force, while staying true to the game’s soul-stirring essence.”

It is noted the leads of the game studios are assisting with the films production, so that’s always good! I’m excited more than ever to see this film come to screens near me!
