Hands-On With Playmates’ TMNT x Stranger Things Toys | Video

The second wave of Playmates Toys’ Upside Down Remix series has arrived, bringing Donatello and Michelangelo together with Lucas and Dustin from Stranger Things!

It’s an odd combination, but it’s hard to complain when two awesome things come together. Last year, Playmates kicked off a new line of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover toys (much like their previous mix-up with Cobra Kai and Street Fighter), that brought the heroes in a half-shell to Hawkins!

Recently, the second wave of the “Upside Down Remix” launched with two more two-packs to close out the set. The Ninja Turtles take on their appearance from the original comics (which is why they all have the same bandanna) while the Stranger Things characters are being pulled from their season three appearance. The previous wave gave us Leonardo and Eleven along with Raphael and Hopper.

Playmates was kind enough to send me the latest wave so I could play around with them myself and see if these new figures are worth the price:

Overall, despite the oddness of the team-up, I’m very much digging these figures. Particularly, I love how the joints feel fluid and easy to manipulate, while also holding firm once you pose them. They’re easy to stand up and offers plenty of opportunity for collectors to display in a variety of poses. They’re great Ninja Turtle sculpts, and the Stranger Things figures look sleek. Combine that with some fun accessories, and there’s a lot of solid value here for only $40.

Both of these two-packs are available right now, exclusively from Target.
