Dark Horse Comics will be releasing a special edition of The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga via Kickstarter.
In 1997, Japanese manga artist Hisao Tamaki reimagined the landmark motion picture Star Wars: A New Hope as a manga. Nearly three decades later, Dark Horse Comics and Lucasfilm are bringing a faithful reproduction of his original art boards to fans for the first time with The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope—The Manga.

While a retail edition will be coming to stores in the summer of 2026, this special Collector’s Edition will be exclusive to the Kickstarter that is launching on September 16, 2025. The project can be checked out here.
The Collector’s Edition is a two-volume hardcover set that showcases Tamaki’s artwork in high resolution with Kickstarter-exclusive covers and treatments. The Triptych Folio Set presents panoramic artwork in gallery-quality prints. Both will be available only through this campaign.
