It looks like Sony Pictures is keen on developing the Amazing Spider-Man universe more deeply and into it's own mega franchise. While the new film has been hinting at the Sinsiter Six and even Venom, Sony has officially announced that both are getting their very own spinoff films! Come inside for the full reports including who's writing them!
Shocker of the summer: the newest Spider-Man film has made a crapton of money. Coming off of the six day Independance Day weekend (that entire sentence is ridiculous), The Amazing Spider-Man made a grand total of $140 million, $65 million of which came from the actual three day weekend. That's a stellar take for the reboot, but is not mind blowing, nor "amazing."
Let's be honest from the get-go. The question on everyone's mind when it comes to The Amazing Spider-Man is, "How is it in comparison to the three Tobey Maguire movies?" After all, it's only been five years since the last film in Sam Raimi's trilogy about the web slinging superhero. Forgive me if my review reads like a comparison chart, but isn't that what everyone is looking for?
When I got a chance to check out The Amazing Spider-Man last week, I was anxious. I love Spider-Man and am fond of the Sam Raimi creations, and being a reboot I wasn't exactly sure the type of experience I was in for. However, I walked out of that theater with a massive smile on my face. THIS is the Spider-Man I grew up with as a kid reading comics, and I couldn't have been happier. In fact, it's one of the most character driven superhero films I've seen since The Dark Knight.
The great thing about living in a major metropolitan area is that movie studios target the area as a heavy promotional market. The Dallas / Fort Worth, TX Metroplex always seems to figure into the aggressive advertising campaigns for big-budget franchise films. One such tour is "The Amazing Spider-Man Secrets Unmasked" Truck Tour, which made a stop in Grand Prairie this past weekend.
Last night during America's Got Talent Sony showed off a four mintue long "super" preview for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man...If you didn't catch it there, it's now available online and features some awesome looking stuff.
The latest Amazing Spider-Man trailer is out (attached to Avengers if you want to catch it in theaters) and it shows off quite a bit more of the Lizard, the story, and even hints as some slight changes to the origin story...
When fans finally got their first look at the Lizard in the last trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, many wondered where the villain's iconic lab coat had gone. Director Marc Webb has been quick to try and pacify fans and a new image finally gives them what they want.
Honestly, if I was forced to judge Summer 2012 at first glance, I would say it was pretty weak. Compared to 2011 and 2010, there's just not as many movies to look forward to. While it seems easy to write off this Summer as a dud, I have three reasons why it might actually be awesome; The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and Prometheus. Honestly, that's all Summer 2012 needs in order to be one for the history books. Even then, there's still more than enough films to warrant your attention this summer. To help you sort through them all, we've once again compiled all the most interesting films of the season into four easy to read, informative guides. For the next four days, we'll take you on a journey through the best cinema has to offer in Summer 2012. Welcome to our Summer 2012 Movie Guide!
Today's guide will focus on the month of July, the most scarce of all the months. But you know what? The limited amount of options doesn't matter for one reason, and one reason only; THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Find out what we have to say about the biggest movie of 2012 (along with some other films too!) after the jump.
Looks like Sony is starting to get things in motion for a sequel to this Summer's upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man. They already set a release date, and now they've hired some writers to pen the script...and they aren't too shabby.
