News Bits: Amazing Spider-Man, Clash of the Titans 3, Sherlock Holmes, Evil Dead, Wanted 2, The Muppets, and More!

Welcome back for another edition of News Bits.  What is it you ask?  The film world can get quite overwhelming at times in the news that releases.  Unfortunately some of this news is just too small to warrant a full article. Rather than deprive you of the news, we've created this section.  This week in news bits we’ve got posters, announcements, logos, special clips, and lots more!

Clash of the Titans 3

* Warner Bros. is currently in post-production on Wrath of the Titans, it's sequel to the mediocre (at best) Clash of the Titans remake, but that's not stopping them from thinking ahead.  THR reports that Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson (who co-wrote Wrath's script) have been brought on to write a treatment and story for a 3rd film.

* FOX announced that In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds (starring Dolph Lundgren, and directed by Uwe Boll...) will be released on blu-ray and DVD on December 27th, 2011.

John Lasseter Walk of Fame

* Earlier this week, Disney/Pixar's main man, John Lasseter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  So congrats to him and well earned!

The Amazing Spider-Man

* The Amazing Spider-Man is returning to New York later this month for some quick re-shoots around the city, and they're looking for police officers to be extras.  A casting call went out for the 17th of this month that tipped off a writer at Comic Book Movie (P.S. Fiona's Tale is the shooting title for Spider-Man)

FIONA’S TALE IS BACK AND WE ARE FILMING ON THURS 11/17. WE ARE LOOKING FOR MEN & WOMEN WITH THE NYPD UNI FOR POSS WORK ON 11/17. PLEASE INDICATE IF YOU ALREADY WORKED ON THE MOVIE AND WHAT YOU DID ON IT. NO PHONE CALLS OR EMAILS.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows poster

* Yahoo released a handful of new character posters for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.  Hit the link to check them all out.

Evil Dead logo

* Bloody-Disgusting snagged this first look at what appears to be the new Evil Dead logo (for the remake).  Simple, but still kind of cool.

* The screenwriters for Wanted 2 (Michael Brandt and Derek Haas) are currently hard at work on the script but are hopeful that Timur Bekmambetov will return to direct the film.

* Disney shared with us 3 brand new clips from The Muppets which hits theaters later this month on the 23rd.

* Movies studios have won their lawsuit against Zediva.  The company thought they'd found a loophole to stream new release movies to their users, but the courts have now shut them down.

* FOX has released a video online to celebrate the release of Water for Elephants on DVD/blu-ray earlier this week, that goes step-by-step with the make-up artist, how to achieve the look Reese Witherspoon had in the movie.

Ron Meyer

* Universal Studios' President, Ron Meyer, was doing a Q&A and talked about Universal's latest films and flops.  In a refreshing move, he takes full blame for putting out bad/mediocre movies (but also says Scott Pilgrim deserved way more attention than what it got).  The full interview is definitely worth reading through, but this one quote sums up how candid he was:

“We make a lot of shitty movies. Every one of them breaks my heart.”

All right, that about wraps it up for this edition of News Bits.  Remember, if you've got something you think should be featured here, drop us a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we'll be sure to post it.
