Call of Duty Day One Releases Being Removed From GamePass

The good news? Prices went down for once. The bad news, you lose access to one of the biggest franchises on day one.

Perhaps it was slumping sales of the last installment, or an agreement with a 3rd party, or it’s a title that can stand its own to bring in money, but something has triggered Microsoft to drop Call of Duty from the day one line up of titles on GamePass. Microsost announced that due to revamping the service the franchise will now release “the following holiday season (about a year later)” instead of being available on day one. So you still get it in your library, just later.

The good news is that GamePass is dropping prices slightly, and you don’t have to wait at all as the price adjustment goes into effect today. GamePass Ultimate will drop from $29 to $22, and PC GamePass is dropping from $16 to $13. This comes from Microsoft on a recent Xbox blog post.

Conveniantly this means you could stay subscribed and buy Call of Duty (at $70) and still pay less than if the sub stayed the same price in that timeframe. So perhaps it was a way for Microsoft to give you an option of what game you want to buy, or include in your library.

This comes after leaked memo’s from the new Xbox leader Asha Sharma talking about how GamePass has “become too expensive” and needed to look for ways to increase value.
