The stunning first game that set the stage for Call of the Elder Gods to shine. Set 30 years apart, we follow the story of Evangeline Drayton and Norah’s husband, Dr. Everhart, as they try to figure out the mystery behind Evangeline’s strange dreams. This leads the unlikely duo to caves, deserts, and even an ancient city. Uncovering secrets that will change their lives and how they see the world.

I think that the most standout part of the game is the storytelling. It was phenomenal. It doesn’t just tell the story; it pushes you to explore and unravel it through puzzles, making it accessible even to those who don’t do well with puzzle games. There is a hint section in the menu that will walk you through the puzzles of the game without giving away too much. It guides you, and in most cases, is easy to understand and follow.
I was able to get through most of the puzzles without needing to use the hints. I would say I am about moderate in my puzzle-solving skills. I did find myself impossibly stuck on two puzzles where even the hints were not overly useful in getting to the next level.

Unlike its predecessor, Call of the Elder Gods adventures around the world and beyond, instead of the singular setting of a tropical island. I personally enjoyed the stunning art of the multiple locations. The art for the game was mesmerizing, especially the underwater scenes.
Overall, this game did a great job of continuing the story and building more onto the lore. The puzzles were manageable for the most part, both with and without the hints system that thankfully did not penalize you for using it. Call of the Elder Gods came and accomplished what it came to. I was hooked the entire game and loved going on the adventure with Evangeline and Dr. Everhart.
