New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin’ Announced at Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest brought the announcement trailer for Paramount Games’ TMNT: The Last Ronin game, not to be confused with the previously announced Last Ronin game.

If you were slightly confused (but still hyped) about The Last Ronin trailer at Summer Game Fest this afternoon, you’re not alone. A game based on the incredible TMNT comic of the same name was announced/revealed back in 2023 with a trailer of its own! THQ Nordic was developing that, but they apparently stopped working on it at some point last year (according to IGN).

So we’ve got something entirely different here, but at least it’s still happening. The reveal comes shortly after Paramount revealed the formation of Paramount Games Studio.

In a future, battle-ravaged New York City, a lone surviving Turtle embarks on a seemingly hopeless mission seeking justice for the family he lost.

With the Bayonetta developers, PlatinumGames, behind this I can’t help but feel the hype. The story is one of my favorite TMNT tales and well worth reading. Considering Paramount has seemingly decided to axe the planned live-action Last Ronin movie, I’m glad we’re at least still getting this. Plus, based on some of the character hints, I’m wondering if the game will include some of the “Lost Years” material (which showed more of the lead-up to the events of Last Ronin with more flashbacks) as well.

There’s no release date, or much of any other information at the moment, but hopefully we won’t have to wait overly long to get more details on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.
